The woodwind studios at Mississippi State University provide an intensive learning atmosphere where students interact with artist faculty and work toward the achievement of their fullest musical capability.
Woodwind Studio Information
The woodwind area welcomes students of all majors to participate in chamber ensembles and applied lessons. Applied lessons are offered for either half an hour or one hour each week. Weekly studio classes enrich students' studies, offering opportunities including performing for one's peers, performing in masterclasses, learning about instrument care and maintenance, building technique and tone, and a variety of other topics. Studio classes are an opportunity to learn alongside other students and build friendships with like-minded peers.
Chamber Music
Chamber music is an important part of students' musical training. Participation in a chamber ensemble develops collaborative skills and allows each student opportunities to take on leadership roles, helping students to build confidence and strengthen overall musicianship skills. Participation in chamber ensembles is a major part of the woodwind student's performance experience, and woodwind ensembles perform regularly both on and off campus.
