MUSIC THEORY UDPE MUSICIANSHIP MATERIALS AVAILABLE NOW

The written theory, aural dictation, and musicianship skills tests of the MSU Music Theory Upper Division Proficiency Examination will be administered on Monday, August 19, 2024, starting at 8:30 a.m., in the Music Building’s room 1140.

Musicianship skills materials needed for advance preparation for one of its components, the Musicianship Skills Test, are now available from Dr. James Sobaskie upon emailed request.  Contact him at   jsobaskie@colled.msstate.edu

The Music Theory Upper Division Proficiency Examination is not an entrance exam for transfer students, but rather a graduation requirement for MSU music degrees, as well as a prerequisite for participation in the Form and Analysis (MU 4313) class.

Incoming transfer students who have successfully completed at least three (3) semesters of accredited music theory and ear training courses, as well as current MSU music majors who have successfully completed at least three semesters of accredited music theory and ear training courses but have not yet passed one or both halves of the Music Theory UDPE, are eligible to take these tests.
